Obesity is at an all time high in the United States. The rise in medical problems due to obesity like hypertension, diabetes and joint problems has swamped the health care system. People from other countries are often shocked to see howoverweight Americans are when they come here to visit. Out of all of the countries in the world, Americans are in the top three for heaviest countries. Doctors predict because of obesity this younger generation is the first generation in a century that may not outlive their parents. With all of the medical technology and the knowledge regarding healthier foods this is not acceptable andshould change. This article willhelp you with some ideas to begin your weight loss program such as starting with your true weight with electronic scales and if you are bigger than a store bought scale accommodates then industrial scales can be found to get an accurate starting weight.
After your true weight has been established you should also make an appointment with your doctor before starting any weight loss or exercise program to ensure your body is OK for the new program. Once you receive the go ahead from your physician it is time to pick a plan. For those that are obese, a professional plan would be the optimal choice with the support of a professional to guide you through the eating choices. Some programs that are only need to drop that 10-20 pounds that you gained over the winter months, the following tips will help you get healthy again.
The first thing is to get rid of all of the unhealthy foods in your home. That should include processed foods and items containing a lot of sugar. If it is not in your home, you will not be tempted to cheat and eat it. Then go to a grocery store and buy healthy choices like fresh vegetables and fruits. Other good low calorie snacks would be air popped popcorn or sugar free Jello for those crunchy salty or sweet cravings. Usually, to lose weight it should be in the range of 1200-1800 calories depending on how big you are. It is important that you maintain a food journal and record all of the things you eat to be aware when you have reached your total days calories. It will not take you long to realize that you can eat a lot more healthy items than just a few fatteningthings. Studies have reported that people that maintain a food journal have the best outcome for losing weight and forkeeping their weight loss after they initially lose it.

Fruit, vegetables and air popped popcorn are some of the few foods in the market that have not been messed with. Oh, wait a minute they are genetically modifing them as well without telling us. Someone has not been mentioned here who shares much of the blame for what has been happening in the USA and Indian Nations. When 34% of the population of the USA is obese that has gone beyond diet, exercise and genetics of that person. Through the food industry our food is subjected to poor farming methods, Irradiation, Pasteurization, Emulsification, Over refining, Genetic Modification, and via the animals Steroids and Antibiotics. Then before it gets to us they add Aspartame, MSG, Artificial colors, Sodium nitrite, Hydrogenated oils, High-Fructose Corn syrup, Acesulfame K, BHA, BHT, Olestra, Bromate, Sulfites, Seomyx, and I could go on and on. Good grief, what do they think we are? They think more about shelf life then the health of the person eating the food, even soups have junk in them. You and I know that this is not right, our food should not degrade into something chemically unrecognizable. Food should have food value and nourish us not turn us into an obese sickly country, you know it, I know it and they should know it. Paul
